The microalga Phaeodactylum tricornutum is considered a model diatom. It the second diatom whose genome was sequenced and first one genetically engineered. This permits its use as cell factory for production of high-value compounds nutraceutical, cosmeceutical, pharmaceutical, biodiesel, bioplastic applications. study focused on analyzing expression levels enzymes involved in synthesis sulfoglycolipids monogalactosyldiacylglycerols, known to have anticancer immunomodulatory activities, genes coding antioxidant, heat shock stress-responsive proteins, various culturing conditions. Our data showed that both nutrient starvation senescence induced down-regulation sulfoglycolipid monogalactosyldiacylglycerol synthesis-related (compared replete condition), suggesting control condition, consisting cells exponential phase medium, condition with highest interest worth further bioactivity screening chemical analyses drug discovery biotechnological
